  Chasing the Dream Across Continents

For Jeffrey M'ba, football isn’t just a sport - it’s the reason he came to America.

Born and raised in France, Jeffrey built his life around a single dream: playing in the National Football League. Unlike many American athletes who grow up surrounded by the sport, Jeffrey’s journey required leaving home, family, and familiarity behind to pursue an opportunity thousands of miles away.

For him, the stakes are higher than most.

Coming April 18th

“My only reason in the United States is to play football,” he says. “If football is not here anymore, then I’m not here anymore.” Football isn’t just part of his life - it is his life.

Every year, thousands of college football players chase the same goal: hearing their name called on NFL Draft night. But the numbers tell a harsh reality. Out of 73,000 college football players in the United States, only about 16,000 are draft eligible. From that pool, just 259 players are selected in the NFL Draft.

That means only about 1.6% will make it.

Jeffrey knows the odds.

But numbers have never defined his mindset.

“I don’t have expectations about where I get drafted. I just want to hear my name called.”

For Jeffrey, the moment represents more than validation—it represents the culmination of years of sacrifice.

the long odds of a NFL dream

Preparing for the NFL Draft requires an intense physical and mental commitment.

Jeffrey trains six days a week, often completing two or three workouts per day. His routine combines speed development, position-specific drills, strength training, and recovery work designed to prepare athletes for the most important evaluation of their careers.

The pre-draft process is typically a 6–12 week training cycle where players refine every aspect of their performance ahead of the NFL Combine or their university’s Pro Day.

Every metric matters.

  • 40-yard dash times

  • Vertical jump explosiveness

  • Broad jump distance

  • Shuttle agility drills

These numbers help NFL scouts measure the athletic potential of each prospect.

For Jeffrey, the training process is not just about improving numbers—it’s about proving he belongs.

the long odds of a NFL dream

Jeffrey’s path to the draft didn’t follow the typical route of most American prospects.

His journey took him through multiple levels of football, each one shaping him into the player he is today.

JUCO Football

Junior college football taught him resilience and toughness. Competing in one of the most demanding levels of college athletics forced him to develop both mentally and physically.

Auburn University

At Auburn, Jeffrey experienced the pressure of playing inside stadiums packed with more than 90,000 fans, learning what it means to perform on one of college football’s biggest stages.

Purdue University

At Purdue, the focus shifted toward professionalism—learning how to prepare his body, study film, and approach the game like a true professional athlete.

SMU

At SMU, Jeffrey brought everything together, refining his game and positioning himself as a legitimate NFL prospect.

Each step in the journey sharpened the same goal he has held since he first discovered football.
